“New Body Pilates” (45 minutes, $14.95) is a full beginner level mat Pilates program taught in the authentic and classical Pilates tradition, complete with cues for proper breathing techniques, body mechanics and alignment for the beginner and even more advanced exerciser. Jennifer calls “Yin Yoga” (75 minutes,) the ‘Un-workout’ because unlike traditional heating yoga that sculpts the muscles of the body, Yin Yoga teaches you to go deep into the cooling, calming power of stillness, targeting the body’s connective tissue to liberate chronic holding patterns and areas of stress in the body. Yin Yoga contains 3, twenty minute, age-defying, energizing, mind-body stretching workouts, for all levels, each one deeper, more focused and more liberating. Yin Yoga’s effectiveness comes from tuning into the breath and holding each pose long enough for the entire body to melt into it and activate the body’s meridian system, or “energy pathways” that boost immunity and enhance peace of mind. The DVD also includes a segment with Joey Hoeber a New York expert on Chinese Medicine who explains the concepts behind Yin Yoga in terms that everyone can easily understand. Jennifer Kries is the founder and owner of Hot Body Cool Mind--The Studio in Philadelphia.
